WELCOME TO OUR BLOG - THE PLACE TO BE INSPIRED TO CREATE MEANINGFUL AND MEMORABLE CELEBRATIONS

Host the Perfect Easter Egg Hunt with Personalised Easter Baskets and More

A popular Easter activity, and for many it’s a well-trodden tradition, is the Easter egg hunt. At your place, it might be the Easter Bunny who does the hiding, or perhaps it’s grandparents or everyone’s favourite Uncle John. Whether indoors or outdoors, a stash of chocolate overflowing from your Easter basket or a more modest and planned approach with cryptic clues and treasure to be found, make sure to enjoy a good, old fashioned Easter egg hunt part of your Easter celebrations this year.

Easter is almost upon us. And although it may be celebrated a little differently for many of us this year, Easter typically presents a chance to cherish the time with those nearest and dearest. There’s no reason to put your Easter on hold. Instead, it’s time to start making plans for your new-look celebrations. You never know, in trying something different you may just discover something new and wonderful!

You might be a well-trained expert when it comes to Easter Egg hunts or perhaps you are just starting out. Either way, we could all do with some great new ideas to try out as we set the wheels in motion for a perfect Easter Egg hunt. Regardless of where your Easter basket is nestled this year, and how many people are (or aren’t) gathered around you, you can still have plenty of fun with this Easter tradition.

The tale of a trail

Sing with us here – “here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail…”

To create the perfect Easter egg hunt, you first need to create Peter rabbit’s famous bunny trail. Not only super egg-citing for all involved, but a bunny trail also marks an official point so that all your little egg hunters know exactly where to start from and certainly helps to build the anticipation and excitement too.

First of all, make a whimsical trail lined with cute Easter decorations. Don’t forget to provide the very important Easter baskets for gathering their haul. Personalised Easter baskets make gorgeous gifts that can be treasured and used long after the hunt is over and all the chocolate has been eaten.

Add some bunny footprints with powder or flour to the trail (use a rabbit footprint stencil and shake the powder/flour over the top if you are not so confident with your footprint making skills) and don’t forget to add a sprinkle of magical bunny glitter here and there too.

Along with the Easter baskets, line up some Easter eggs along the path to help create the trail shape too. But remember that chocolate melts. So, if your egg hunt is in the sun, use candy eggs, a few coloured rocks or little bunny ornaments, which make great keepsakes too.

Easter bags are a great alternative to Easter baskets and they have plenty of other uses too. You could even put together a Easter Egg hunt essentials kit for each child with a Personalised Easter basket or bag and add a personalised Easter hat too to add to the colour and fun of the occasion.

For an indoor alternative: a bunny trail looks fantastic on lush, green grass. But if you don’t have access to that at your place, you can still create a trail indoors (or outside) with a length of imitation turf, a long mat or piece of material, or simply create a designated path space by placing Easter eggs in two lines. As an added bonus, hungry hunters can collect these too when they are done!

Mystery matters when you’re a big kid

If you have a few older kids (or kids at heart) ready to fill their Easter baskets, be sure to create some mystery for a bit of extra fun. And this is just perfect when you only have a small space to do an Easter hunt.

Instead of making it easy for your egg hunters, add some clues into their Easter baskets to create an Easter treasure hunt instead. Provide a clue to where they can find their first haul of goodies. When they arrive at that destination, provide them something to put into their Easter basket along with another clue to the next location. This will take much longer to fill up all the Easter baskets and create some competition as the hunt will be more of a challenge.

If you want to ensure that all hunters get an equal number of goodies in their Easter basket stash, you could place names on all of the hidden treasures. This also provides the flexibility of giving age-appropriate Easter basket prizes to all players.

Atmosphere

The perfect Easter egg hunt calls for some cracking (pun intended) Easter tunes. Set up a music system with some Easter music and let them go – just like a scene out of The Benny Hill Show, for those of us old enough to know what that is!

For the littles, we found an awesome compilation of Easter music by Bounce Patrol. It runs for 27 minutes, which we think is ideal, and features cool songs for the kids, like ‘The Easter Bunny Bop’…

“Step left, step right then hop, hop, hop. Do the Easter bunny bop!”

Don’t worry, you will be singing it too once you hear it.

Mix it up

Okay, so Easter eggs are “very Easter” but, as we know, too many are not exceptionally great for little tummies, or big ones either for that matter 😉. There are plenty of other wonderful gifts to fill Easter baskets with, and they certainly don’t all need to be edible or unhealthy.

  • Ornaments – Easter themed ornaments that can be used year-round, like our Personalised Easter Bunny with Pot that can double as an egg holder, or our cute Flower Pot with Two Bunnies
  • Plush toys – always a winner with the kids. Swap out some Easter eggs with cute Easter Plush bunnies and other cuddly animal friends to complete their Easter basket haul
  • For those essential tasty treats, try a healthier alternative by using some carob-based goodies instead of chocolate, or go for dark chocolate instead of milk or white

Reward everyone

To create the perfect Easter egg hunt, the most important thing is to include everybody. Make the competition for filling Easter baskets fun by ensuring that everyone is sure to walk away with something. Encourage participants to swap and share their Easter basket goodies at the end too.

The real secret to creating the perfect Easter egg hunt is to encourage participation, fun, inclusiveness, and most of all, valuable time with loved ones.
